Herbert & Momoko is the collaborative project from Matthew Herbert and Momoko Gill. With a shared background in experimental production and composition, the duo’s mutual passion for pushing sonic boundaries has played a crucial role in their respective careers to date.
Their debut album Clay brings together original sampling techniques using a variety of sources - from Japanese kotos to basketballs, mixing found sounds with live improvisation and expansive vocal arrangements.
Combining Herbert’s fleet-footed productions with Gill’s dexterous, melodic writing, their sound treads nimbly between the dancefloor and the more introspective moods of the early hours.
