Biography

Grouper is the solo project of Portland based musician/artist Liz Harris.

Since 2005 she has released a series of LPs, CDRs and tapes into on labels like Type, Room40 and her own Yellow Electric imprint. The Wire recently compared to the rural psychedelia/drone odysseys of Flying Saucer Attack.

Grouper’s Violet Replacement performances are long form ambient pieces comprised of tape loops, field recordings Wurlitzer loops and submerged atmospherics, mixed and processed live from an array of dictaphones and tape players. The shows are presented in a set of naturally resonant and specially customised locations.
